Summer Weather in Marbella
The weather on the Costa del Sol is considered the best in continental Europe. The pleasant Mediterranean climate and unique microclimate make Marbella a great destination for tourists in summer. Expect sunshine and high temperatures, but not the sweltering heat. May and June have an average of 10-11 hours per day. July and August have the most hours of sunshine per day, with an average of 11-12 hours. The open coastline provides plenty of breeze, and the evenings are comfortable and balmy for outdoors dining.
According to official data, in the summer months, the average day temperature in Marbella is around 28°C (82°F) and around 20 ° C (68°F) at night. The hottest month is August with an average high of 29.3°C (84.7°F). The sea temperature becomes more inviting too, with temperature reaching 20°C (68°F) - 23°C (73.4°F).
Here’s a breakdown of the average temperatures every month:

August F 87° / 70°, C 30°/ 21° 0 days
In 2024, the temperatures of the sea water set an all-time record, according to the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO). For the first time in 40 years, at the end of August they registered 27°C in Fuengirola, and 28.3°C in Malaga city. The air temperature rise was also noticeable, coupled with higher than usual humidity level.

2. Where to Go Out in Marbella This Summer
Marbella’s nightlife scene is as vibrant and diverse as the city itself. Whether you're in the mood for beachfront cocktails, dancing under the stars, or an elegant dinner that turns into a party—there’s something for everyone
Here are a few of our top picks for summer 2025:
- Momento – A must for music lovers, with a cool, international crowd and a deep house vibe that lasts into the early hours.
- COYA Club – The new nightlife and dining destination at Puente Romano, offering a chic setting, creative cocktails, and high-energy DJ sets.
- Playa Padre – A relaxed boho beach club by day that transforms into a lively party spot by night, right on the sand.
- NYX Marbella – A smaller, hidden venue inside GAIA, perfect for those looking for a stylish and exclusive night out.
- Boho Club – Sophisticated and creative, Boho Club hosts occasional music events and offers a more refined take on Marbella nights.
- Suite del Mar – Located on the beach at Puente Romano, this is a go-to for sunset drinks that often lead to late-night dancing.
Whether you're visiting or living here full-time, Marbella offers endless ways to enjoy your nights—at your own pace.
3. Savour Ice Cream in the Old Town of Marbella
When the heat hits, Marbella’s answer is ice-cream—and Spain helped invent the modern scoop. In 1553 Spanish doctor Blas de Villafranca showed Rome how salt on ice could freeze desserts, a technique that still underpins gelato today. Fast-forward to Michelin-star pastry legend Jordi Roca (Rocambolesc), who keeps pushing Spanish ice-cream into the spotlight.
In Marbella’s Old Town you’ll find everything from sun-ripened mango sorbet to deep, dark chocolate gelato. Fancy Italian style? Drop into Rivareno Gelato, Fresca Passione or Gioelia Cremeria. And don’t leave without tasting helado de Málaga—sweet-wine-and-raisin ice-cream that’s a point of local pride and worth a side trip to Málaga city’s artisanal heladerías.
4. Best Coffee Spots in Marbella: Where to Sip, Snack & Unwind
- Paisana Marbella – Paisana brews 100 % Arabica beans from Colombia’s Cauca mountains, roasted in small batches to preserve the coffee’s bright citrus-and-lemon notes. The glass-walled terrace looks straight at La Concha and the Mediterranean, while the all-day menu runs from harissa-avocado poached eggs and French-toast brioche to seasonal salads and sour-dough sandwiches. Much of the produce travels only a few kilometres—from the owners’ organic plot, Quinta Paisana, where they also host “Paisana Garden” pop-ups: twilight dinners served between rows of herbs and tomato vines. Light, sunny and genuinely farm-to-table, it’s an easy pick for a slow breakfast or an unhurried lunch with a view. Visit Paisana Marbella.
- Rachel’s Eco Love – Tucked inside Puente Romano Beach Resort, Rachel’s Eco Love is a relaxed spot for fresh juices, smoothies, and light, healthy dishes. The menu includes options like olive bread with avocado and peach-filled crêpes—everything made from scratch with quality ingredients. It’s a go-to for a casual, feel-good breakfast or lunch by the pool. Visit Rachel's Eco Love

- Ground – Artisan Café & Bakery – Freshly Baked Delights situated on Calle Los Lirios in Nueva Andalucía, Ground is part of the BREATHE™ group and offers a real bakery experience with freshly baked bread and an innovative breakfast and lunch menu. Enjoy it on the sunny garden terrace or grab it to go. Open daily from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Visit Ground Café

5. Make a Day Trip to Coastal Towns
The province of Malaga is home to many lovely resort towns and mountainside villages. Summer is a good time to explore the coastal part. You can sightsee during the morning, and then spend the rest of your day at the beach. The sunbaked plains of Moorish Andalucia, and the southern gems / summertime frying pans Sevilla and Cordoba can wait for you for a few month. They are hardly enjoyable when it’s over +40 °C (F 104°). Granada’s summer is slightly cooler, but not by much.
You can go to:
- Nerja – Known for its laid-back atmosphere, crystal-clear beaches, kayaking adventures, and the iconic Balcón de Europa, this coastal gem also hides some of Spain’s most impressive prehistoric caves.
- Estepona – for exploring its historic centre, fishing port, and the largest in Spain Orchidarium, a pioneer in the way of displaying the collection of orchids growing just as they do in their natural environment. Worth mentioning Estepona’s commitment to culture through initiatives like El Carmen Viewpoint, Art Murals Route, and Poetry Route. Enjoy Estepona Feria (July 1st to 6th).
- Benalmadena – for family-friendly activities (SeaLife Aquarium, Butterfly Park, Selwo Marina, La Paloma Park, Cablecar, and much more). Benalmadena Marina is one of the prettiest ports in Europe.
- La Cala de Mijas – for its Andalusian seaside village atmosphere with authentic cuisine at the local restaurants. Breath-taking views, quaint streets with white houses and hanging flowerpots, donkeys, Ermita Virgen de la Peña, intriguing legends, and the unbeatable charm – this is Mijas Pueblo.
- Gibraltar – for cooler weather, and many interesting things to see and to do: discovering hotspots like the Mediterranean Steps, Main Street, Casemates Square, Marina Bay, St. Michel Caves, panoramic tour, the cable car, nature reserve rock tour, Barbary macaques at the Apes Den, dolphin watching, shopping, etc. Don’t forget your valid passport to cross the border. Please check the need for a VISA or ESTA to visit Gibraltar.

6. Go for Adventure
Marbella isn’t just beaches and bars—it’s also a gateway to thrilling outdoor fun. Whether you love the water, mountains, or hiking, Marbella offers a range of activities for nature lovers and adrenaline seekers alike:

- Quad Biking in the Hills – Explore Marbella’s rugged hinterland on a quad bike. This off-road adventure takes you through scenic mountains and olive groves, offering spectacular views of the coast and the chance to see the countryside like never before.
- Horseback Riding – Discover the beauty of Marbella’s natural landscapes on horseback. Riding tours take you through the Sierra Blanca mountains, along sandy beaches, or through forests, providing an immersive nature experience.
- Mountain Biking – Marbella is a haven for mountain biking enthusiasts, with trails suitable for all levels of riders. From coastal routes to forest paths, you can ride through stunning scenery and even challenge yourself on more difficult terrain.

7. Hang Out on a Rooftop Terrace
Few things compare to watching the sun set over the Mediterranean with a cocktail in hand and soft lounge music in the background. Marbella offers a selection of rooftop bars perfect for romantic evenings, stylish dinners, or drinks with friends—all with spectacular views.
- Belvue Rooftop Bar at Amàre Beach Hotel - Located directly on the seafront promenade, Belvue stands out as one of Marbella’s most impressive rooftop experiences. With 360° views of the coastline, sunsets over Gibraltar and Africa, and a chic, contemporary design, it’s an unbeatable spot for golden hour cocktails.
- Sky Lounge at Benabola Hotel - This rooftop in Puerto Banús offers classic comfort and sweeping views of the Mediterranean and marina. It’s a laid-back yet elegant setting for drinks, with all the signature cocktails and sunset scenery you’d expect from a top-tier location.

The rooftop space includes a 360° bar and over 150 seats, making it perfect for larger gatherings or stylish evenings under the stars.

8. Attend Traditional Spanish Fair or Event
There’s something super attractive about a culture that knows how to party well into the night. If you fancy big festivals and fairs, August is the best time to visit Malaga’s Feria. However, there are many smaller festivals and traditional ferias taking place in nearby towns, including Marbella.
- Feria de San Bernabé (Marbella, 9–14 June 2025) – Six days of fireworks, casetas, parades, concerts and fairground rides across the Old Town, Parque de la Alameda and Avenida del Mar. The main day is 11 June, San Bernabé’s feast. More info: Ayuntamiento de Marbella

- Starlite Occident Festival (Marbella, 13 June – 29 August 2025) – Two-month open-air series in the Nagüeles quarry featuring international headliners, gourmet pop-ups and VIP after-parties. Line-up and tickets: Starlite Festival
- Flamenco Nights (June–August 2025) – Authentic shows every Friday at La Taberna Fantástica in Benahavís and nightly at Tablao Flamenco Marbella. Advance booking recommended.
