Your Ultimate Marbella Summer Guide by Homerun Brokers:

As one of the most vibrant destinations in Southern Europe, Marbella offers much more than luxury homes and prime real estate. Summer 2025 promises sun-drenched beaches, cultural gems, epic dining, and unforgettable experiences for all ages. Whether you're visiting for the season or considering relocating, here’s your essential summer guide to the best things to do in Marbella this year.

Summer Weather in Marbella

The weather on the Costa del Sol is considered the best in continental Europe. The pleasant Mediterranean climate and unique microclimate make Marbella a great destination for tourists in summer. Expect sunshine and high temperatures, but not the sweltering heat. May and June have an average of 10-11 hours per day. July and August have the most hours of sunshine per day, with an average of 11-12 hours. The open coastline provides plenty of breeze, and the evenings are comfortable and balmy for outdoors dining.

According to official data, in the summer months, the average day temperature in Marbella is around 28°C (82°F) and around 20 ° C (68°F) at night. The hottest month is August with an average high of 29.3°C (84.7°F). The sea temperature becomes more inviting too, with temperature reaching 20°C (68°F) - 23°C (73.4°F).

Here’s a breakdown of the average temperatures every month:

Month                   High / Low                                       Rain

June              F 82° / 64°, C 27,7°/ 19°                       1 day

July                F 87° / 68°, C 30°/ 20°                          0 days

August           F 87° / 70°, C 30°/ 21°                          0 days

In 2024, the temperatures of the sea water set an all-time record, according to the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO). For the first time in 40 years, at the end of August they registered 27°C in Fuengirola, and 28.3°C in Malaga city. The air temperature rise was also noticeable, coupled with higher than usual humidity level.

Marbella’s nightlife scene is as vibrant and diverse as the city itself. Whether you're in the mood for beachfront cocktails, dancing under the stars, or an elegant dinner that turns into a party—there’s something for everyone

Here are a few of our top picks for summer 2025:

3. Savour Ice Cream in the Old Town of Marbella

When the temperature rises in summer, it’s perfect time for delicious ice-cream. Do you know that Spain has played a decisive role in creating this sub-zero delicacy and its leap to modernity? It was Blas de Villafranca, a Spanish doctor living in Rome in 1553, who shared the idea of freezing ice cream by adding salt to the ice. The history of Spanish ice cream has been long and fruitful, with many names flying the flag for innovation and avant-garde creations. Ask people in Houston, Texas, what ice cream parlour offers the best, unparalleled journey of flavours. The answer is “Spanish Rocambolesc”. Holding three Michelin stars, Jordi Roca was named Best Pastry Chef in the World in 2014 by Restaurant Magazine, and his El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, was titled the Best Restaurant in the World for several years. In 2018, Jordi debuted on Netflix episode of Chef's Table.

You’ll be amazed by the variety of flavours and quality of Spanish ice cream in Marbella Old Town. Whether you’re savouring a scoop of sun-ripened mango sorbet, or diving into a cone of rich dark chocolate gelato, it promises an unforgettable experience. The welcoming atmosphere and laid-back vibe provide the perfect backdrop for indulging in frozen delights as you explore the charming streets of the quaint Casco Antiguo (Spanish for Ancient District). Craving an Italian gelato? No problem, Marbella has it all! Head for Rivareno Gelato, Fresca Passione Gelateria, or Gioelia Cremeria.

Don’t miss Malaga Ice Cream, made with two key ingredients in the city: raisins and sweet wine. They sell it everywhere in Marbella, but Malaga city worth a trip. Making us proud, Bounce Magazine, an award-winning UK publication, speaks so highly about it: “From the bustling streets of Barcelona to the historic alleys of Seville, each city we’ve visited has left an indelible mark on our taste buds. However, the sun-kissed shores of Malaga have truly captured our hearts and palates, reminding us that ice cream isn’t just a dessert — it’s an adventure waiting to be savoured. Malaga has a thriving ice cream scene that deserves a special spotlight. Its Heladerías Artesanales (artisanal ice cream shops) stand as a testament to the city’s commitment to quality and innovation. Here, ice cream is not just a treat; it’s an art form. Local gelato artisans source the finest ingredients and combine them with a creative twist, resulting in a symphony of flavours.” Enjoy!

5. Make a Day Trip to Coastal Towns

The province of Malaga is home to many lovely resort towns and mountainside villages. Summer is a good time to explore the coastal part. You can sightsee during the morning, and then spend the rest of your day at the beach. The sunbaked plains of Moorish Andalucia, and the southern gems / summertime frying pans Sevilla and Cordoba can wait for you for a few month. They are hardly enjoyable when it’s over +40 °C (F 104°).  Granada’s summer is slightly cooler, but not by much.

You can go to:

  • Nerja – for its laid-back atmosphere, crystal-clear water beaches, kayaking, and famous prehistoric caves
  • Estepona – for exploring its historic centre, fishing port, and the largest in Spain Orchidarium, a pioneer in the way of displaying the collection of orchids growing just as they do in their natural environment. Worth mentioning Estepona’s commitment to culture through initiatives like El Carmen Viewpoint, Art Murals Route, and Poetry Route. Enjoy Estepona Feria (July 1st to 6th).
  • Benalmadena – for family-friendly activities (SeaLife Aquarium, Butterfly Park, Selwo Marina, La Paloma Park, Cablecar, and much more). Benalmadena Marina is one of the prettiest ports in Europe.
  • La Cala de Mijas – for its Andalusian seaside village atmosphere with authentic cuisine at the local restaurants. Breath-taking views, quaint streets with white houses and hanging flowerpots, donkeys, Ermita Virgen de la Peña, intriguing legends, and the unbeatable charm – this is Mijas Pueblo.
  • Fuengirola - for seaside promenade, with many restaurants, pubs and bars, different facilities and activities.
  •  Torremolinos.  Tolerant, super liberal (top gay destination), and a piece of history, it remembers many celebrities including Orson Welles, Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly, and Eva Gardner.  Salvador Dali’s wife Gala was reportedly the first woman to go topless on the beaches of Torremolinos. Frank Sinatra was fined there for the fight involving a journalist and a female Cuban singer.
  • Gibraltar – for cooler weather, and many interesting things to see and to do: discovering hotspots like the Mediterranean Steps, Main Street, Casemates Square, Marina Bay, St. Michel Caves, panoramic tour, the cable car, nature reserve rock tour, Barbary macaques at the Apes Den, dolphin watching, shopping, etc.  Don’t forget your valid passport to cross the border. Please check the need for a VISA or ESTA to visit Gibraltar.

You can’t beat a Mediterranean sunset while listening to lounge music and sipping a cocktail on a roof terrace. Perfect for a bit of romance, enjoying a view to die for, alfresco dining, girls & boys night out, etc., lots of etc.

The mirrored staircase leads up to the magnificent rooftop terrace, which offers 150 seats and the 360° bar overlooking the glorious symbol of Marbella, La Concha Mountain, opening soon.
Enjoy panoramic Mediterranean views and signature cocktails at Belvue Rooftop Bar, Marbella’s top rooftop at Amàre Beach Hotel.

8. Attend Traditional Spanish Fair or Event

There’s something super attractive about a culture that knows how to party well into the night. If you fancy big festivals and fairs, August is the best time to visit Malaga’s Feria. However, there are many smaller festivals and traditional ferias taking place in nearby towns, including Marbella.

Malaga’s Feria de Agosto (August 16th- 23rd). The unique festivities begin with a fireworks display near the port at midnight before the official start date (August 15, 2025). Cabalgata Histórica, a traditional parade commemorating the city’s incorporation into the Crown of Castile in 1487, follows the fireworks. Then, non-stop fun takes place in two different locations: in the centre for the daytime events, and in the Real del Cortijo de Torres grounds for the night fair. Expect lots of fun, traditional dances, beautiful dresses, Carvajal wine, and unforgettable attractions.

Feria de Marbella (June 9th – 14th) celebrates the town's patron saint San Bernabé, whose feast day, June 11th is the peak of the celebrations. The Feria takes place in the Old Town, Parque de la Alameda, and Avenida del Mar. It includes an opening ceremony, a firework display, the iconic casetas (stalls), daytime festivities, evening events, fairground rides, and a special children's evening. Expect lots of food, drinks, concerts, dance performances, parades … fun-fun-fun!

Noche de San Juan (23rd June) is a traditional Spanish festival marking the eve of St. John the Baptist's birth. Locals gather on the beach, and until sunrise we eat, drink, sing, and dance. Jumping over the bonfires flames and taking a dip in the sea at midnight (brrr-illiant cold water therapy!) consider bringing good luck and purifying the soul. Many beaches in Marbella host the celebrations. El Pinillo, El Cable, Playa de la Fontanilla, and Playa Padre are known for their lively atmosphere. Chic beach clubs like Ocean Club, Nikki Beach, El Trocadero, and MC Beach offer parties with live music, fireworks, and special menus. Consider dressing in white.

Starlite Occident Festival (June 13th - August 29th). Would you like to party for over two months? The Starlite festival makes Marbella a non-stop party zone attracting the world's elite.  https://starlitefestival.com

Friday Flamenco Magic at Restaurante la Taberna Fantástica. 9. Visit museums in Marbella and Malaga

Summer is a very good time to visit the museums. You’ll learn, and keep cool from the heat.

With over 40 museums in Malaga, you’ll definitely find the one that interests you: Picasso Museum, Carmen Thyssen Art, Centre Pompidou, Contemporary Art Center, Glass and Crystal Museum, Automobile and Fashion Museum, Museum of Popular Arts and Customs, Aeronautical Museum, Municipal Heritage Museum, Museum of Music, Oxo Videogames Museum… Many of them are fantastic for families with kids.

Speaking of kids in summer in Marbella. Little Piccassos is the new pop up Art Club, igniting young imaginations and empowering children to unleash their inner artist. Another excellent place for your children is the Kids Club housed in the Marbella Club Hotel. It provides entertainment for children of 4–14, with supervised activities from sports and gardening to wildlife experiences and science experiments.

The arts scene in Marbella is quite developed. Galeria Municipal de Exposiciones and Casa Grande Gallery attract a range of changing exhibitions by artists from all over the world. Ralli Museum contains one of the most important Latin American art collections in Europe. Engravings and graphic pieces are the focus at the contemporary Spanish art museum, Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo. Some small but lovely art galleries (Galeria de Arte Alvaro Reja, Libertad Couso, Galeria Isolina Arbulu) are located in Marbella’s Old Town. Visit La Galería de Arte of Pedro Peña. This name has gained worldwide recognition for the unique and exclusive interior designs for refined spaces.
